Background of the study
Religious counseling has emerged as a vital support system in communities where faith plays an integral role in daily life. In Egor, religious counseling offers an alternative or complementary approach to conventional mental health services. Spiritual guidance provided by religious leaders can promote resilience, hope, and improved coping strategies during periods of stress or trauma. Research indicates that integrating religious counseling with traditional therapeutic practices can enhance mental well-being, particularly in communities where stigma against mental illness exists (Uche, 2023). Nevertheless, challenges such as limited mental health literacy and the potential conflict between religious advice and clinical recommendations persist (Nwanne, 2024). Recent studies have underscored the importance of culturally sensitive mental health interventions that incorporate spiritual dimensions (Abiola, 2025). This study examines the effectiveness of religious counseling on mental health outcomes and overall quality of life in Egor, offering a comprehensive evaluation of its role in community well-being.
Statement of the problem
Despite its growing acceptance, the impact of religious counseling on mental health in Egor remains underexplored. Limited empirical evidence exists regarding the effectiveness of religious counseling as a complementary approach to standard mental health treatments. Additionally, prevailing stigma associated with mental illness and potential conflicts between religious and clinical approaches present significant challenges. These issues hinder the development of holistic mental health care strategies that integrate spiritual and psychological support. This study addresses these gaps by assessing how religious counseling influences mental health outcomes and quality of life in Egor.

Significance of the study
This study provides essential insights into the role of religious counseling as a complementary mental health intervention. The findings will inform mental health practitioners and religious leaders on developing integrated support systems that enhance community well-being. By evaluating the benefits of faith-based counseling, the research aims to promote more effective, culturally appropriate mental health care in Egor (Obi, 2024).
